GOATS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCTION) (2012)

Studio: Red Crown Productions

Writer: Mark Poirier

Director: Christopher Neil

Cast: David Duchovny, Vera Farmiga, Ty Burrell, Keri Russell, Justin Kirk and Graham Phillips

Hilarious and poignant; the story follows 15 year-old Ellis as he moves from Wendy, his flakey, new age mother’s South-Western home to an East Coast prep school where his estranged father Frank was once a star student. For Ellis, this means leaving behind the only real dad he has ever known, Goat Man, his pot-smoking, goat herding mentor, and ultimately needing to evaluate his new prep school lifestyle that’s in stark contrast to his stoner upbringing.

A witty reversal of the coming of age formula, a beautifully honest portrayal of life with its rough edges, awkward moments and non-endings.

WHAT MAISIE KNEW (EXECUTIVE PRODUCTION) (2012)

Studio: Red Crown Productions

Writers: Henry James (Novel), Carroll Cartwright and Nancy Doyne (Screenplay)

Directors: Scott McGehee and David Siegel

Cast: Julianne Moore, Alexander Skarsgard, Joanna Vanderham, Steve Coogan and Onata Aprile

A contemporary revisioning of the Henry James novella, transposed to New York City, the story revolves around unwitting 7-year-old Maisie, caught in the middle of a custody battle between her mother Susanna, a rock and roll icon, and her father, Beale, an European art dealer. In a race to win the court’s advantage, Beale marries Maisie’s nanny, Margo, prompting Susanna in turn to marry friend and local bartender, Lincoln. Both forced into a battle neither wishes to be a part of, Margo and Lincoln come to empathize with Maisie’s position and over time with one another’s.

Darkly comic and emotionally compelling, What Maisie Knew is an evocative portrayal of the chaos and complexity of adult life seen entirely from a child’s point of view.
